I Got This Little Crystal Butterfly and I Can't Stop Picking It Up Just to Look at It

I have a confession. I have a tiny crystal butterfly sitting on my shelf and I find myself picking it up multiple times a day just to stare at it. Not in a weird way. Well maybe a little weird.

I didn't expect to love this as much as I do. It's small. It's simple. It's just a little butterfly carved out of crystal. But the way it catches light is genuinely distracting.

The first time I pulled it out of the packaging, I held it up to the window and watched how the light bounced off it. I moved it around trying to see if it would catch different angles. I stood there turning it back and forth like I'd never seen transparent material before. My roommate walked by and asked what I was doing. I just showed her and she went "oh that's actually really pretty" and immediately held it up to the light herself.

It's clear crystal, not one of those colored ones. Just clean and simple and classic. When the sun hits it, it casts these little reflections on the wall that are subtle enough to not be annoying but noticeable enough to make you smile.

I ended up putting it on a little shelf where it catches the afternoon sun. Every day around 2pm, I catch a little flash of light out of the corner of my eye and look over and there it is. Just doing its tiny sparkly thing.

A friend came over and noticed it instantly. She didn't even ask what it was. She just walked over and held it up to the light like I did and went "okay this is staying on my desk." She's not wrong. It does belong on a desk.

I think what I like about it is that it's not trying to be anything. It doesn't scream for attention. It's just there. Then the light hits it just right and suddenly you're staring at it like it's the most interesting thing in the room.

If you want a little something to brighten your workspace or your shelf or just a small piece of pretty to hold when you need a two-second break, this is it. It's not loud or flashy. It's just quietly pretty. I'm a fan.
