Okay so I didn't expect to be this entertained by a piece of foam but here we are.

I picked this up on a whim because I saw a video of one of these slow rise things and I was like "that looks satisfying but also kind of pointless." And honestly? It is kind of pointless. But in the absolute best way possible.

The first time I squeezed it, I didn't really get it. It squished down like any other stress toy. But then I let go and just watched it slowly... slowly... expand back into its original shape. And I literally squeezed it again just to watch it do that again. Three more times after that. I stood in my kitchen just squishing this thing for a solid five minutes like I had never seen foam before.

There's something about the slow rise that just hits different. It doesn't snap back like those cheap stress balls that bounce back immediately. It takes its time. It's deliberate. It's almost meditative in a weird way. You squeeze, you wait, you watch. Then you do it again.

I brought it to my desk and now it lives there permanently. Every time I'm reading something boring or sitting on a long call, my hand just reaches for it. Squeeze. Watch it rise. Squeeze again. It's become muscle memory at this point.

My coworker came over to grab a file from my desk and literally stopped mid-sentence because she saw it slowly rising back up and went "wait what is that." She grabbed it, squished it, and stood there watching it rise for a full thirty seconds without saying anything. Then she went "I need one."

That's the thing about these toys. They look like nothing special until you actually touch them. Then suddenly you get it.

It's not loud. It's not flashy. It doesn't do anything except sit there and slowly return to its original shape after you squish it down. And somehow that's enough to occupy my brain for way too many minutes throughout the day.

If you're someone who fidgets or needs something to do with your hands or just really appreciates a satisfying sensory experience, this one's for you. It's not going to change your life. But it will make your afternoon slightly more entertaining. And honestly, I'll take that.
