I want to preface this by saying my cat already has a lot of opinions. She judges me. She stares at me while I eat. She has a personality that I can only describe as "get that camera out of my face." So naturally I bought her a wizard hat.
I have no good excuse. I just saw it and needed it.
It's exactly what it sounds like. A tiny wizard hat. Like a little pointy one that you'd see on a cartoon wizard. It's the perfect size for a cat head and has this little magical vibe to it that I honestly couldn't resist.
The moment I put it on her, she froze. Not in a bad way. More like a "what have you done to me" kind of freeze. She sat there for a solid minute looking absolutely ridiculous and I have never laughed harder. It stayed on surprisingly well. She looked like a tiny magical creature who was just trying to figure out how to cast a spell to get it off her head.
I took approximately 47 photos. She was over it in like three minutes but I honestly haven't stopped laughing since. I sent a picture to my group chat and my friend replied "that cat looks like she's about to give me a quest." Which is honestly the most accurate description I've ever heard.
But here's the thing. My cat who is usually all over my laptop and my keyboard? She sat there calmly with the hat on. I don't know if it was the weight or the distraction but she wasn't trying to knock over my coffee or walk across my keyboard for once. I'm not saying the hat made her behave. But I'm also not saying it didn't.
It's lightweight and comfortable enough that she didn't try to shake it off immediately. The colors are vibrant and it photographs so well. The material is soft and not annoying for them. If your cat is also a menace who needs a little humbling, I highly recommend putting a wizard hat on them. You won't regret it. And neither will your camera roll.
Anyway my cat is now a wizard. She hasn't cast any spells yet. But she also hasn't knocked anything off my desk since I took the photos. Coincidence? I think not.
